1x4 Picket
1×4 cedar pickets are typically used with a standard privacy fence, although some choose to use them in other configurations as well. The pickets that we normally stock in our yards are 1x4x4, 1x4x5, 1x4x6, and 1x4x8. We also offer different grades of pickets, and it is important to know the difference between them before making a purchase. Look below for more information.
1x6 Picket
1×6 cedar pickets are a little more versatile when it comes to the style of fence you are wanting. This size is a popular choice when it comes to shadow box, board on board, and horizontal fencing. The pickets we normally carry in stock are 1x6x4, 1x6x5, 1x6x6, and 1x6x8. One thing to make note of before purchasing is the different grades of pickets we carry. Look below for an explanation of our varying grades.
Dog Eared or Square Top
Since dog-eared pickets are generally the go-to choice for privacy fencing, we carry most of the sizes listed above in this style. Our in-stock selection for square top pickets is slightly less, but we carry the sizes for the most commonly needed applications. Posts, Hardware, & Extras
If you are wanting to skip a trip to the big box stores, you can talk to your rep about getting all the necessary materials to complete your fence. This includes posts, rails, screws, nails, concrete, and gate hardware. We also offer PostMaster steel posts in lieu of a typical cedar 4×4 post.

Ranch | Rustic Pickets
- Great for the Penny Pinch
- Typical uses are for farm and ranch properties. Used for repairs, back alleys, and chicken coops
- Usually contains check marks, knot holes, pecking (dry rot)
- Typical waste is < 15%
- No returns
Quality | Standard Pickets
- Standard and better grade than your average box store or lumber yard carries
- Great for the average fence and average home
- Standard construction grade, a few visual flaws
- Typical waste is < 10%
- No returns
Premium Pickets
- Highest quality material
- Usually thicker material with very little aesthetic issues
- Main applications are for business – high-end fences or horizontal fences
- Typical waste is < 5%
- Returnable or exchangeable
