Here at Rocky Mountain Forest Products, we know that remodeling your home is a chore within itself. It takes a lot of time, money and patience to turn your dream kitchen into a reality. From the cabinets, granite countertops, appliances and more- it is overwhelming. Summer is the most popular time of the year for home remodels, DIY projects, and especially kitchen remodels. Let’s consider these reasons:

Why You Should Remodel Your Kitchen in the Summer

#1: Warm Weather

Summer is known for hot weather and being outdoors. When your kitchen is under construction, the last thing you want is to be stuck inside while there are construction workers all over your space, loud noises, and that huge mess. During the summer, you can be outdoors in your backyard, at the park, in the mountains, or even on a summer vacation while all the commotion is happening in your home. The warm weather also makes shopping for materials much more enjoyable. No one wants to run around during a snowstorm or cold weather. To find flooring and granite countertops, you most likely must be outside at a yard or supplier walking through their products, which is much more enjoyable in the warmth.

#2: The Sun

During the long summer months, the sun exposure is at its peak which means your house will be full of natural sunlight enhancing all its features. The natural lighting gives you the ideal environment for designing the overall look of your kitchen. The lighting helps you fully compare your granite countertops with the color of your cabinets and choose accent pieces, while knowing they all pair well with one another.

#3: Longer Days

With the sun being out longer during the summer this means the days are longer and the nights are shorter. Now, some contractors will work once the sun goes down, but others will not continue working unless the sun is up. The sun not only gives lighting, making it easier to see and work, but it also gives off a natural ambiance that makes the designing process easier. With the longer days, it means more working hours. Your contractors will be able to work longer hours, which allows for your kitchen remodel to be done in half the time. This takes off stress and can sometimes cheapen the labor portion of the budget.

#4: Entertaining

Entertaining and get-togethers with friends and families are at its highest in the summer. With the warm weather, bright sunny days, and natural mood that summer gives off- it is the time for parties, pool days, and BBQs. Your kitchen is the main point for entertaining. This is where the food and drinks are held and conversations are carried on. If you remodel your kitchen during the winter months, it will most likely not be used other than for day to day coffee making and cooking until the following summer. Why not finish your remodel at the beginning of summer, leaving the following weeks to enjoy your new entertaining space?

#5: Decorating

Summertime is used for remodeling and DIYing so much that this is the time when stores come out with new home décor and often times have constant sales of some kind. When it comes to remodeling your kitchen, adding new décor is a no brainer. You want your new space to look as though it is an entirely different home. Summer is the ideal time to find new home décor and kitchen supplies for your newly designed kitchen.

#6: Getting Ready for The Holidays

Aside from all the entertaining that summer entails, every family has one member whose home is always to the stomping ground for holiday dinners. With your kitchen remodel being completed in the summer, it gives you the perfect amount of time to have your home in the ideal shape for those holiday dinners. Your home could be the new talk of the town amongst your friends and family during the holidays and winter months.

Most homeowners know how stressful redoing anything in their home can be. Whether it is a small or large project, involves a couple of contractors or a whole team-it is stressful and can cause worry. The stress of the budget and making sure you follow it, the stress of not having a fully working kitchen during those few weeks, and of course the overall mess and amount of people in your home can be overwhelming. These few points are to hopefully take some of the stress and worry off you during your home remodel and make it a fun and exciting time!
