Schedule Your Spring Home Improvement Project Now!

Do you have a home improvement project in mind? Maybe you need a new deck or fence and you’re determined to get something installed – just as soon as the snow melts and the weather warms up, that is. We understand. Although many of these projects can be started and finished during the coldest months of the year, some homeowners opt to wait regardless. If this sounds like you, consider that there are still several steps you can take now to ensure that your project goes smoothly when you are finally ready to get break ground.

Sometimes, half the challenge of taking on a new home improvement project is getting started. Lining up your own busy routine with your contractor’s fully-booked schedule can seem like a project in and of itself. Even if you are determined to wait until spring to actually start building, now is the perfect time to choose a contractor. Call around, get opinions, and when you do settle on a contractor you will have a much easier time scheduling an appointment for them to conduct an estimate of the cost of the project and the materials you will need than you would if you waited until spring. If you wait until it’s warm and sunny outside you can still get something booked, you just may have to wait or settle for a time slot that wasn’t your first choice.

Getting a head-start on your home improvement project can also give you an advantage when it comes to negotiating a good price. It really depends on the situation, but many contractors have very little to do during the winter months and may be willing to cut you a deal just to get you booked on their schedule, even if it is a few months out. You can also ask how much they would charge to do a job in January versus April, for example, just to get a better idea of what your options are.

Hopefully this post has given you a few ideas about how you can take control of your project early on to ensure that everything goes smoothly and ends in success. If you have any questions, or would like us to recommend the perfect contractor for your project, give us a call!
