Rocky Mountain Reclaimed is a sister company to Rocky Mountain Forest Products. Here at Rocky Mountain Forest Products, we are a specialty building materials and lumber company that services the entire state of Colorado and beyond. We have been in business for over 45 years and have served over 1 million customers old and new. Being RMFP’s sister company, Rocky Mountain Reclaimed can offer a lot of product knowledge and insight from working with a variety of species and grades of lumber over the years. We take pride in the products we offer, and we strive to make sure they are the highest of quality and are sold at an affordable price.
When shopping at RMFP’s siser company, you will get educated on all the different types of reclaimed lumber we sell; true and faux. In this blog, we are going to briefly touch on each kind of reclaimed wood we sell and the different brands we work with. We hope this blog helps you in feeling more confident about reclaimed wood and all the options that are available to you.
Our Locations
Let’s start with where you can find the materials. We have three different locations across Colorado in Wheat Ridge, Arvada, and Colorado Springs. We also ship nationwide which means no matter where you live, we’ve got you covered. You can visit any of our three locations to see samples of products and talk to a salesperson or you can give us a call.
Our Brands
We work with several different brands who supply our reclaimed wood products for us while also having a line from RMFP of traditional wood siding. We work with Skiplap, Replank, Old World Timber, Thermory, Montana Ghostwood, Forever Barnwood, Coeur D’Alene, and RMFP’s own line of traditional siding. Each of these brands has a wide variety of reclaimed products from timbers, barn doors, paneling, flooring, and much more. Each brand has their own specific way of repurposing the reclaimed wood, which is what makes them stand out from the rest of the brands. We work closely with each brand to make sure that every product we receive is of high quality and has no defects that could potentially cause issues to our homeowners, contractors, and designers who buy from us.
The Difference Between True and Faux Reclaimed Wood
True reclaimed siding is real natural reclaimed wood that is sourced from actual demolition sites to be used in homes everywhere by homeowners and designers. True reclaimed wood is wood that is usually over 100 years old and has been used as a structure in previous years. It’s now being repurposed through a milling process and resold.
Faux reclaimed siding is when a supplier mimics the look of real reclaimed wood through a manufacturing process on a new siding product. Reclaimed wood has a very rustic and washed look, which is what makes it so high in demand among designers. Some suppliers who cannot get their hands on actual reclaimed wood take raw wood that is freshly milled or a composite like material and create the aesthetic of reclaimed wood.
Both are good options for any project and any home. The type of reclaimed wood you want to use will depend on the project you are completing and the environment the project is in. Depending on the supplier you purchase from, the pricing for true and faux can range based on where they got their supply from and how much they spent acquiring the material.
The sales team at Rocky Mountain Reclaimed is very knowledgeable on the products that we sell and the brands that we work with. If you are struggling with choosing a product or simply just need inspiration, don’t hesitate to ask for our input. We have close knit relationships with designers and contractors that can also give you some inspiration on the projects you want to complete within your home.
