Hopefully these questions cover all the bases. Here is a list of RMFP’s frequently asked questions. We list them in hopes that we can ease your nerves and take some stress off of your renovations.

RMFP’s Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I need to replace my fence, does RMFP install?

A: No, we are just a building materials supplier and we don’t do any installation. However, we work with over 2,500 different contractors and can refer you to a few different ones that best fits your situation.

Q: What is the best kind of wood to use for a fence?

A: We always recommend cedar fencing for any fence job. The reason why we think cedar is the best is that it is affordable, durable, and works well in almost any climate. It all is a high-quality product that lasts years without needing any repairs. Treated fencing products do not do well in Colorado’s dry climate. They will crack and warp within 1-3 years. We suggest going with cedar!

Q: What if I only need a few boards or pickets?

A: It’s not a problem if you only need a couple of decking boards or fence pickets to replace some old ones or for a small project, we’ve got you covered! And, of course, if you need materials in bulk, we can also service you.

Q: My HOA has certain regulations, can you help me make sure I stay within them?

A: RMFP has over 45 years of experience with working with different styles of fencing. We have become more than familiar with the different regulations of the local HOAs and we have no problem going over them with you!

Q: What is fabrication?

A: Well, fabrication can often mean different things depending on the material being referred to. Usually, fabrication is when a material is taken and put through a process to create an end product. The most common usage of the term fabrication is used with granite. Fabricating is done once a slab is picked out from our granite yard. This is the process in which the edges are polished and cut for appliances so your granite fits perfectly in your home.

Q: Why are our granite prices more affordable?

A: There are many reasons why our pricing is much lower compared to our competitors. We work directly with the quarries, which cuts out the middleman’s expense. We only supply the raw materials and do not do any fabrication, so that is not included in our pricing. Lastly, we also buy our lumber mill direct, which saves the end user money without the middleman’s markup.

Q: What does it mean when “exotic” is used in granite?

A: Granite is separated into five different grades. The term exotic in granite means that the granite has a unique variation of color and patterns, which makes it more requested by designers and homeowners.

Q: What types of species does RMFP carry for timbers and beams?

A: We stock and have the ability to get a large variety of species for timbers and beams. Our most common species we work with are Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, and Eastern Hemlock.

Q: What are my options for engineered timbers rather than using conventional wood?

A: Outside of conventional wood timbers, there are many options to choose from. We supply laminated veneer lumber, glued laminated timber, and parallel strand lumber. All of these are unique in their own way and are engineered for specific applications. Contact us or come visit us to learn more about these engineered beams.

Q: Does Garapa have the same attributes as regular Ipe decking?

A: Garapa and Ipe decking are similar when it comes to their characteristics. The main difference is the coloring of the boards and the price point.

Q: Is Tigerwood a good option for decking?

A: Tigerwood is an ideal choice for any deck. It is durable and stable, while looking natural with its vibrant colorations.
