Summer is that time of year where we are setting new routines, being healthier, and improving our overall lifestyle. One thing most people don’t think about or consider as important for your lifestyle is the condition of your home. Your home is where you live, it’s where you spend your life most days and if it is unorganized, unkempt, and unpleasant to be in your life will be shifted and you might not realize that it’s the cause. The beginning of the year is the perfect time for you to get your home back in order, not just in terms of organization but also in home improvement. Here are a few tips for improving the overall look and feel of your home:

#1: Declutter

The first step to living a better life is to declutter your space. Go through cabinets, drawers, closets, and throw away the things you don’t need or use anymore. Once you have gone through and have thrown away all of the things you no longer need or use, organize the remainder of things in baskets, buckets, boxes, or whatever you find more useful. Once this is complete, your space will feel clean, simple, and you will be able to find things easier.

#2: Small Remodels

You can also consider renovating your bathroom and kitchen in a small way or a large way, whatever you feel works best! Your kitchen sees a lot of high traffic and is the heart of your home so you always want this in pristine condition. When it comes to the design of your kitchen you could repaint or stain cabinets, extend your kitchen if you can, or even install new countertops. The same goes for the bathrooms in your home. You can improve the organization and design of these rooms and you will be surprised how different the atmosphere of your home will feel.

#3: New Furniture

An easy way to improve the look of any space in your home while staying on a strict budget is adding or replacing old pieces of furniture with new ones. You can find cheap furniture pieces at thrift stores, consignment shops, and antique shops at a cheaper price so you can save money and even possibly customize them to be your own. You can also find brand new furniture from high-end stores at a reasonable price with a little searching through clearance sections and good deals.

#4: Landscaping

The outside of your home sets the tone for how your home looks and feels on the inside. You want your home to have a homey and cozy feeling that is welcoming to all your visitors and family members. Your landscaping can not only give your home a complete look, but it can also improve the value of your home. You can add new grass, plants, flowers, and even rocks or mulch to add the outdoor design of your home in the front and the back.

#5: Exterior of Your Home

Finally, we recommend that you also give the outdoors of your home a little TLC to help your lifestyle feel healthier and more organized. This can be anything from washing off your front porch and driveway to completely residing your home. It all depends on what you feel your home needs. Do a basic walk around on your home and check your siding boards to make sure there are no cracks, warps, or damages that need to be fixed. Then check for any dust or debris that needs to be cleaned off and decide what you want to add if and when it comes to landscaping. Make a list and tackle each task one at a time.

These are just a few tips for improving the quality of your home and your life. With a little touch-up and some much-needed attention, your home could be looking brand new in no time. We hope this list helped inspire you and give you a place to start for beginning a new year on the right foot.
