As you have no doubt already noticed, the extended spell of warm weather we had been enjoying in the Denver area came to a sudden and decisive end earlier this week. Indeed, we are faced with the first signs of the forthcoming winter season, and there’s no time like the present to make sure that you and your home are prepared for what lies ahead. So what can you do this week to ensure that your home stays warm and your heating bill stays low? Let’s evaluate one of the major facets of a well-insulated home: the front door.

Exterior entryway doors are categorized according to the material that they are made of, of which there are three primary fixtures in today’s market: wood, steel, and fiberglass. Therma-Tru fiberglass doors are the frontrunners in terms of energy efficiency and heat retention due to their superior insulation and, overall, lack of any real “cons” regarding their cold-weather performance. Wood doors, meanwhile, are not designed to be highly insulated and are not ideal in climate zones which experience a lot of temperature fluctuation – although there are high quality solid-core wood doors that can fair pretty well. Steel doors, on the other hand, can be great in warm weather climates but during a cold season will often be cool to the touch even on the interior face of the door.

When selecting a Therma-Tru fiberglass door, there are many options available stylistically: there are near-perfect wood imitation doors; smooth, modern-looking doors in any color; and many different styles with ornate glass plates. Make sure that the Therma-Tru door you select is Energy Star qualified – the vast majority are, but not all, so be sure to double-check before you make a purchase. Take a look at the downloadable brochure below to browse the options and give us a call if you would like to speak with one of our specialists to place an order, or if you have any questions. Take action now so that you can enjoy a warm home and low energy bills all winter long!
