How to Prepare for Summer House Guests

Check Your Linens

If you have a designated guest room, you must check your linens. It may have been months since someone stayed over so the linens probably need a freshening up.

If you don’t need to do a full removal and wash of bed linens, there are a variety of fabric fresheners on the market.

You can use these on linens, towels, curtains, upholstery, and rugs.

The Little Things Will Make Your Home More Welcoming

There are a multitude of small touches that you can add in a guest bedroom and bathroom to personalize it!

  • Have fresh cut flowers on dressers or nightstands
  • Place coasters on nightstands
  • Provide small bowls or baskets to hold jewelry, keys, and coins
  • Provide a sheet with WIFI information and passwords for easy access
  • Have favorite magazines available and books for leisure reading

Stock Up On Essentials.

There is nothing more inconvenient that running out of household essentials when you have guests. To prevent you or your guests from having to keep running to the market stock up on these everyday items:

  • Laundry and Dish Detergent

Activity Information and Resources

Even if your guests have visited your town before it is nice to remind them of the local attractions. You can either type up your own list or collect publications with appropriate visitor information.

Have A Spare House Key Made and Any Access Codes

So that everyone in your house can come and go without having to coordinate have a spare house key made and provide a notecard with relevant access codes to your home.

Add Some Night Lighting

Most of us could successfully maneuver around our home in the dark. House guests on the other hand may not be so lucky. To prevent injury and to simply make your home comfortable at night strategically place nightlights and small lamps throughout your home that will be left on at night.

Make Some Storage Space

Living out of a suitcase can be frustrating. It is much easier if you can unpack some things so that you can find what you are looking for. If you have closet and drawer space where your guests will be staying clean a space out. If you do not you can provide collapsible clothing racks and baskets for your guests to use.

These are just a few things to consider if you have house guests arriving. Taking the time to implement these will make their stay more memorable and will make your house run smoother while they are there!
